Outlook won't completely close

Lately, when I shut down Outlook 2000 (using XP Pro SP2 on my P4 machine), I
find that it hasn't completely shut down. I'll continue to get email
messages, even though there is no sign of the program running. I then
checked in the Processes part of Task Manager, and there was Outlook.exe,
still running!! What is causing this?

Also, at the same time this started happening, I started getting an error
message that "WMS ST Notif Window 000000BF8 won't close, and I have to End
Program to get my computer to shut down.

For some reason I think these two problems are related, but I would
appreciate an answer and/or a fix to either problem.

I already have anti-spyware through my Trend Micro office suite, which has
not detected any during my recent scans. I'll try the Ad Aware just in case,
but I think it might be something else.

Thanks for the response.
