When I try to open MS Outlook 2000 it will not open. I get the 'splash'
screen, then the program opens in the background BUT the splash screen stays
and I get a request to send an error report to Microsoft. After I send the
report MS Outlook closes. I have recently installed all the MS Outlook 2000
updates.

Any suggestions welcome. Thanks

Does Outlook start in safe mode?

how to:
start > run > outlook.exe /safe > ok button

Hi Neo,

Many thanks for the response.

Yes it would open in safe mode. After some other suggestions I tried
deleting messages in Outlook but that didnt make any difference.

I also tried renaming the outcmd.dat file to outcmd.old but that did not
work. I tried the cleanviews command but that didnt work and i checked the
add-ins (in safe mode) to see if that was causing the problem but none of
them were checked.

I did notice when it failed to open that at the top of the screen, alongside
the File, edit, etc bar the words Adobe PDF appeared 3 or 4 times, apparently
as different clickable options.

Any further tips or ideas are welcome!!!

If I run it in safe mode will it function properly???
