Outlook will not load

Hello,
I am running Outlook 2002 (XP) and the problem I am
having is as follows;
On booting up the computer I can load outlook without any
problems. When I exit outlook and try to reload outlook
it dosent do anything. I get the egg timer on the screen
and thats all....
I have to go into Windows task manager and Close
all "outlook.exe" which are stilll running in the
background. then try and load outlook, then it appears in
safe mode and it takes ages to load.
I have downloaded all the latest patch and nothing seems
to work :-(
Does anyone have any advice or know how to fix the
problem.

For further help to the gurus who can guide you through
this morass, after starting up your box and ensuring
everything is running normally, exit OL normally, give it
a little time to make sure the app has had ample
opportunity to close, then check taskman to see if
the .exe is still present. Chances are, it is, but you
need to check that, first.
