Outlook Way Too Slow

Recently upgraded to Office 2007 Small Buis ed.

Outlook became un-useable as soon as I imported my old .pst file. Outlook
takes 5 seconds to do anything from the time that I start typing to just a
mouse click...

In researching the problem I found that the .pst file was probably too large
and followed the recommendations found in the knowledge base to reduce its
size...

However, if I reduce its size any more it will become unusable. I send
reports in ever day to my office as attachments to e-mail. I also have to be
able to look back to see when I sent a particular report in... I have to do
this often.

Splitting my pst file is the only option I can find, but it is going to
become a non-starter quickly.

Any help would be welcome. Some info to work with is listed below.

Processor: Intel dual core 1.88 GHz.
Memory: 2 GB.
Office 2007 Small Buiz.
Old Office 2000 Pro.

You did an upgrade? Verify that all your add-ins are compatible with Outlook
2007 and disable the integration of your virus scanner with Outlook. It is
also recommended to recreate your mail profile when doing an upgrade;
http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm

Additionally you could reset outcmd.dat and extend.dat by renaming them to
..old when Outlook is closed.
