Outlook Time Zone Issues and syncing to a mobile phone

T

TKGEO

I have read that 2007 is time zone sensitive. I have no problem keeping my
laptop on home time, but when I sync to my mobile phone, which is set to
local time, all my appointments on both the laptop and mobile phone are
adjusted. My problem is I travel up to 11 time zones in 24hrs. It would be
very difficult for me to add the appropriate time zone for each appointment
and even if I did the difference between the laptop and phone would still
cause problems. I enter the appointment (plane departures) in the local time,
no further adjustment is required by the computer.

Is there a way to disable the time zone adjustment particularly during
syncing?

Thank you

Tony

No, you can't disable it. Some smart phones can be set to use your home time
zone instead of the network zone, which will minimize the problem. If yours
support it, it should also have a dual clock options so you can see the time
in both zones.

Are you creating appointments using 'local time'? ie, a 9 am appointment in
Seattle shows as noon in NY. Use time zone button on the appointment to
pick the appointment's 'local' time zone. This is the correct way to create
appointments and you can adjust the laptop for local time. Using Outlook's
dual time zone feature helps too and I recommend entering the appointment
time in the subject or message body for reference.
