Outlook Synchronisation Nightmare

I've made a right mess of my PST file. I've been using a couple of sync
programs - Easy2Sync and SynchPST - to try and sync my desktop and laptop so
that each carries exactly the same emails/replies/contacts etc at all times.
For some reason, the laptop has begun to show only emails that were sent
over two weeks ago, and absolutely refuses to synd anything more recent.
Also, I have managed to generate several duplicates of each message and so
my PST file has grown - currently 1.7 Gig - and I am now in something of a
mess. Easy2Sync's duplicate email remover doesn't detect the duplicate
emails, and oddly enough there are small differences between each
duplicate - often the recipient's email is for some reason replaced by their
name. I tried the MAPI duplicate email remover and it works but I don't
want to pay $15 for functionality that should come as standard (but I fear I
will have to).

Any idea why I can't get the Easy2Sync program to sync emails more recent
than 2 weeks old ?
