Outlook stuck in a loop

Hi, I was hoping someone might have had a similar problem that they
figured out how to fix.

My Outlook 2007 (on WinXP SP2) was working fine, until I typed a new
task into the "type a new task here" field. Instead of displaying it
in the "To-Do" bar like it is supposed to, Outlook went into an
endless loop trying to refresh the "To-Do" list. It uses 100% of my
CPU and even Ctrl-Alt-Del takes ages to end the application. Even on
restart the same thing happens time and again when I try to launch
Outlook. Initially during launch my tasks are displayed on the far
right column, but before it finishes launching the tasks disappear.
Current "Today" tasks disappear and "Today" is replaced with "Later",
with a bunch of empty flags beneath it, that keep flashing as though
the list is constantly refreshing. "Loading..." is displayed above the
task list.

I can't use Outlook at all, as it uses all my CPU's power to deal with
refreshing the to-do list. It is as if it is caught in an infinite
loop.

Any suggestions??

Cheers,

Rob
