Outlook stopped working.

I'm running Office XP Standard on Windows XP. After I downloaded iTunes,
outlook stopped dead. I can't send or recieve, add contacts, print
calenders, etc. Whenever I click on a button I get one of two error
messages. "The operation failed", or "The messaging interface has returned
an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook." I tried that,
downloaded many upgrades, SP3, etc., and tried the repair disc. I also
removed iTunes. Nothing seems to work. Any suggestions would be greatfuly
appreciated.

message "The operation failed." If I go to My Computer, Mail, when I
click
on the buttons, nothing happens, and there is no error message. I think
this
problem is not just an email problem.

Thanks. I now have a new Outlook that appears to be working. How do I
import my emails, contacts, calender, etc. from the old Outlook? I can't
find those files

All your data is in one file, the "Personal Folders" file or PST. The web
site you used also contains instructions on how to use your previous PST.
The default locatiion for your PST is a hidden folder whose path is
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook and because
it's hidden, Windows Explorer won't allow you to browse to it. Open Windows
Explorer, click Tools>Folder Options, select the View tab, and select the
radio button labeled "Show hidden files and folders". Now you'll be able to
browse to that folder. You can add the PST back into your mail profile by
opening the Mail applet in Control Panel, clicking "Data Files", then Add
and browsing to the existing PST.
