Outlook still running

When I close Outlook 2000, sometimes it still runs in the background (I
checked with Cntl-Alt-Del). I have XP. Is this some kind of outside source
problem? And, how do I close it each time for good, until I open it again?

A common problem, often caused by third party addins, eg fax, syncing
software.
If you have any of these ensure they are update from their manu/supplier.
Otherwise try Detect/repair
On some occasions there is no resolution!
