Outlook - stationery moving around, problem

P

Pete

I have set email to use HTML and chosen stationery (citrus punch for
example).

When i create a new email and begin typing, the image at the top of
the screen (i.e. the orange/yellow/red block at the top of the screen
in citrus punch) moves along as i'm typing, and it's the same for any
stationery that has and image of some sort at the top of the page, as
soon as I start typing, the image moves along ahead of the text and
each time i hit return the image moves down a line and whatever i've
typed appears above the image block.

I'm sure it's not meant to be this way, any suggestions will be much
appreciated.

Thanks
Pete

I know why this happens, but don't know how to fix it. I do have a work
around, though.

For some reason I can't explain -- AND HOPEFULLY SOMEONE WILL BE ABLE TO
PROVIDE A FIX! -- when Outlook takes an HTML file to use as stationery, it
seems to automatically add 3 lines to the HTML code. This happens even if you
create an HTML template from scratch (which is what I have been doing) and
don't include the 3 returns.

Interestingly, if you write HTML stationery, and then send a formatted email
and look at the source, you will see that Outlook has added all sorts of
extra HTML text into your original file. The 3 returns at the top seem to be
one of these. I have no idea why they do this.

If you TAB into the message area, you will end up in this 3-line space,
which is above the background and graphics, and thus if you type there, all
the graphics are moved each time you enter text.

HOWEVER -- if you CLICK into the text below the graphic banner, (or next to
a graphic if it's left or right justified), the graphic will stay in place.
This should provide a workaround for your problem.

BUT -- does anyone know a way to ELIMINATE the automatic adding of the 3
lines? I am guessing only an MS/Outlook techie would know this, but who
knows?

Hope this helps.

Thanks hsc - I'll give it a try.
I think 1 problem I may come across is that when the recipient of the
email replies, they complain that their text goes over our company
logo.
I did crack it a while back and it worked perfectly, then we got new
Pc's and I couldn't remember how i done it.

Thanks again
Pete
