Outlook stalls during send and recieve and duplicate emails

Hello All..
I have a handfull of outlook clients with two issues.
Pc's are Xp sp2, outlook version 10.6515.6735 sp3 , pop3
Two distinct symptoms
First , is send and recieved that never finish. OWA see the message fine.
POp outlook just contiunes and will stall. I did move up the timeouts. I had
two sitting over 1.5 hours. on one case OWA is seeing 14 message at about 800
k total. Ping replies to the server is under 32ms and pipe is not a concern.
What's the delay/hangup?

Second is the duplucate emails. Some is from one person, the others all
emails us x2 or more.
So far
-I made sure outlook was patched 2002 sp3
-uninstalled local symantec av
-shut off xp2 firewall
-was going to detect and repair but waiting on source media. Should have
path by morning

Thoughts?

just to ad the error is

Task '216.220.43.86 - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F) :
'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues,
contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'
 
This issue happens with Outlook 2003 post-SP2 as well despite Microsoft's
assertions that it was fixed. It WAS NOT. This was confirmed by a Dev at MS
via an MVP on this very forum.

I have literally stopped using Outlook for e-mail. After 10 years (!) I've
finally had it. There is no reason stupid bugs such as this should occur at
this point in time.
