This is because a new Send/Receive start before the first one has finished.
Change your Send/Receive interval to allow it to complete before the next
one gets initiated.

Tips of the month:
-What do the Outlook Icons Mean?
-Create an Office 2003 CD slipstreamed with Service Pack 1

Robert it still happens no matter what time interval I set... Do you think
anyone is downloading copies of my mail at the same time I am?

Thanks...

No.

Disable the automatic Send/Recieve option and do a manual Send/Receive. See
how long it takes, add a couple of minutes to that and set it as your
Send/Receive interval.
