Outlook '=SMTP:[email protected]'

Using: Outlook 2002 & Exchange 2000
User is composing/replying/forwarding an email message. In the To box, he
types in the full email address in the format (e-mail address removed) and then hits
Send. The receipient(s) call him back saying they never got it. He looks
into his Sent Items folder and finds that the email he sent has the
following in the To box: '=SMTP:[email protected]' which didn't have this
format when he sent it. Also, the From field shows up blank. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Does this happen to everyone? What server is ultimately handling your
Internet mail - Exchange itself, or are you using a relay server of some
sort? Or using Internet mail in Outlook?

I'd post to microsoft.public.exchange.admin for more help ....

So far he is the only one with the problem. I forgot to mention that he is
working at a remote site on another company's network, but he uses Neoteris
VPN to connect to our company's Exchange server. According to him, it
happens a few times a week.....not consistant every single time a message is
sent. I'll also post to the exchange group for help. Thanks.
