Outlook slow to open

T

Trevor Appleton

Outlook(2002 sp2) takes over a minute to open compared to a few seconds for
IE6. I think it happened after some systems tweaks some months ago. Any
thoughts on how to speed it up much appreciated.

See if disabling the Messenger integration helps for you;
Tools-> Options-> tab Other

Also note that Office XP SP3 is out already (+additional hotfixes)

Have tried downloading SP3 for Office but it asks for the CD which I don't
have. I bought the PC second hand from my neighbour, and I think she had so
many computers she had no idea what went with what.

You are talking about Outlook Express here.

This is an Microsoft Office Outlook forum.

Outlook Express is family of Internet Explorer and Outlook of the Office
family.

I did refer to Outlook but must have gone to OE by mistake, since I was
using OE for newsgroups.

Your solution works brilliantly. Many thanks for your time and help
