Outlook shows multiple menu bars (File menu)... can't remove...

Recently, one of our staff has had the following problem... when hitting 'new
email' in outlook, the new email window that appears (not the word version,
the built in version), shows two File Menus... right clicking 'customize' on
the menu bar shows the multiple listing of the bar, but I cannot de-select
the tick boxes to remove them... and, furthermore, if I enable or disable any
other menus more File menu bars appear until the new mail window is reduced
to a sliver at the bottom with many menubars at the top...

Is there a registry setting that would allow me to remove the offending file
menubar?

Thanks,

Everyone wants to play in the registry... Close Outlook, rename outcmd.dat,
and open Outlook to see if the toolbars are reset. Let me know what happens.

Nah, I don't want to play in the registry... I'm just used to having to ;o)

Thanks for the assist, renaming the file worked a treat... what impact does
that file have (on other settings/etc)?

The outcmd.dat file stores any custom changes you make to your toolbar
buttons. The impact of renaming it means that you must make your custom
toolbar changes again. I know it seems like a minor file since it only
monitors changes to your toolbars but with the amount of spyware and adware
that impact toolbars it's understandable that the outcmd.dat file could
become corrupted very easily. The simple solution is to rename the old file
(just in case you need it back for whatever reason) while Outlook is closed
and have it recreate when you open Outlook.
