Outlook should let me set rules to run before the spam filter.

I like to review the spam folder before I delete its contents. However,
since I own a domain, I get lots of spams to some made-up mailboxes. For
example, I get mail to a mailbox of 'bn' followed by some random letters.
Anything to such a mailbox is spam, so I'd like to have a rule that deletes
it, without my seeing it in the spam folder when I review it. If I could set
such a rule to run before the spam filter, that would solve my problem. Or,
if I could have a rule that deleted certain mail in the spam folder, that
would also do the trick.

I'm baffled too. I've setup a rule to search for certain words in the
subject line. However, it sill puts these emails in the junk email
folder. Why don't rules supersede the spam filter? This seems
obvious to me. Am I missing something?

The Junk Mail rule runs first, in your case, thus performing its function
before any other rule gets a chance. Since it moves the message out of the
Inbox, other, subsequent rules don't see the message and can't operate on
it.
