Outlook should let me add domain to blocked sender list via right.

Suggestion to MS: When I right-click on an email in Outlook 2003, I have the
junk mail options that include add a sender's domain to safe sender list, add
sender to blocked senders list, etc. It would be nice to have an option in
that menu that includes add a sender's domain to blocked senders list.

I came here to suggest the same exact thing! Why can you add a domain to a
safe list, but not add a domain to a block list? I'd much rather be able to
block them! I'm sick of the junk mail!! Blocking single addresses is pretty
much useless at this point! I need to block an entire domain! Thank you!

And you can, just not via right-click or menu item.

Which essentially means you have to add the sender's email address to the
blocked senders list, then go into the Junk E-mail options and edit the entry
to change it to block the entire domain. If you get a lot of spam, this
multi-step procedure really hampers the usefulness of the blocked senders
list. It would be much more usable and convenient if it were a one-step
right-click operation. With the frequency of spammers adding new bogus
domains from which to spam me, a multi-step procedure just isn't very
efficient. Hopefully MS will address this and add the option to right-click
menu.

I agree to a point. Blocking based on the sender is virtually useless
anyway.

The route I'd like to see outlook take with handling spam is to allow the
message rules to evaluate the subject and/or message boddy based on WHAT IT
WILL DISPLAY not on the actual words in the message (basically I'm saying
that it should be parsed before it gets to the message rule.

The slick spammers today, will embed html comments into the message. Those
comments are not seen by you and me because outlook doesn't display
comments. But because they are there, outlook sees it as two seperate
words. i.e.:

The subject: Make Millions NOW would likely get caught by most spam
filters.
So change that to Ma<--junkcomment -->ke M<-- another comment -->illi<--one
more -->ons Now and the filter will never catch it.

I've also seen them intentionally put in mispellings in an attempt to get
past the filters.

The subject: Viagra Here! Will likely get caught. So they change it to
V1agra Here. Your eye still recognizes it as Viagra but the filters don't.

Matte,

Have you also noticed that you cannot add multiple emails to the 'Blocked'
sender's list. At least in Outook 2007, the option to send emails to the
junk mail sender lists is removed from the context menu if multiple e-mails
are selected. With all the junk email everyone receives we can't imagine why
in the world Microsoft won't let us move a group of emails to the blocked
list all at the same time?

treefrog says: This discussion thread began in 2004 and it is now half way through 2009. Microsoft hasn't improved the handling of spammers who are getting smarter by the minute. I added dozens and dozens of 'domain names' to the blocked senders list, which is much more cumbersome than just adding the 'sender' to the blocked list. I continue to receive spam from these domains. There must be a better way to handle unwanted spam.

Blocking senders and domains is pointless - few spammers use them over.
Setting outlook 2003/2007's junk mail filtering to high and using safe lists
is better. (Make sure you get the updates monthly) If this isn't good enough
for you, get a program you can train, like spambayes.
