Outlook should be able to use Auto Correct even with HTML (using .

I'm using Outlook 2003 - part of my Office 2003 SBE.

Unfortunately, due to my email signature, I can't use MS Word as my email
editor. Subsequently, since I use HTML (with Outlook as my email editor), I
do not have the ability to use the Auto Correct features (I found a Knowledge
Base article that verified that Auto Correct is not available with HTML,
unless you use MS Word as the email editor)

The strangest thing about this has to do with the subject line of new emails
that I compose. With no rhyme or reason, still using HTML with Outlook as my
email editor, the subject line sometimes has the Auto Correct feature and
other times doesn't. In other words, in the subject line of some emails,
I'll type the first word in lower case, and the first letter is automatically
capitalized, and other times it isn't. When the first word gets capitalized,
all other Auto Correct features work. When it doesn't, nor do the others.
This only applies to the subject line; the Auto Correct features NEVER work
within the body of the email.

Ideally, I'd like to have the ability to use the Auto Correct features when
using HTML with the Outlook email editor. As a matter of interest, I would
kill to understand this anomaly (regarding the subject line and it
inconsistency with the Auto Correct feature).

Does it only work on some replies? Or does it work on new messages?

Never on replies, but then again, I'm not entering anything new in the
subject line on replies. As for the new messages, like I said in my original
post, there is no rhyme or reason to when it does and doesn't work. I've
done all kinds of scenario testing in an attempt to find some correlation,
but to no avail. Anyway, this is a rather small point, within the bigger
issue, i.e. that never does the Auto Correct function work within the body of
my emails.

To accomplish what I'm looking to do, I could simply use MS Word as my email
editor. The problem with this is that my email signature, which a very
technically adept friend created for me, only works when I use Outlook as my
email editor (with HTML format). When I use MS Word as the email editor, the
format of my signature gets all mixed up. Since the signature was created
using Front Page Xpress, and I've got absolutely no experience with that
application, I wouldn't know where to begin. For that matter, it makes no
sense to me as to why the format (for my signature) is fine when I use
Outlook instead of MS Word as my email editor. I don't know if you have any
experience with these kinds of issues, but if you do, I'd even be willing to
pay to get this issue resolved.

Since I'm not a big forum participant, I'm not very up on etiquite. My
secondary email address is (e-mail address removed) (I'm american, but reside in
Italy part of the year, hence the italian email address). This way,
obviously only if you're comfortable, you could send me an email, then I
could respond and visually demonstrate to you what's happening with the two
different email editor scenarios. Let me know...

Please excuse me if I've not been very clear and concise in this post. It's
1:30 am local time, and my 19 month old daughter has been very demanding
recently, as her back teeth are just now popping through. Between this and
one of the most hectic months (work-wise) I've had in a long time, I'm
completely spent. I very much appreciate your interest in assisting me.
