outlook sends same email many times

When sending email with file size approx 0.5Mb, Outlook tries to send it
repeatedly & sometimes causes my IP to time out.
 
If you have anti-virus set to check outgoing mail, turn it off.

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Ian asked:

you might need to increase the server timeout.
For Outlook 2003:
Tools | Email Accounts | View or Change ..., select the account then Change
then More Settings and increase the Server Timeout slider in the Advanced
tab.
