Outlook says it's importing OE addresses but then fails

Hello all. I'm sorry in advance if the answer to this is obvious; I'm
usually a Mac guy and I'm doing this for someone else's office. I'm
in the middle of changing an email setup from Outlook Express to
Outlook 2007 and I'm having some problems. I'm following the
directions that Outlook gives to import the addresses (File>import and
export>import internet mail and settings>import mail>etc.) and
everything is going fine until the end. The computer has a progress
bar on the screen that says "creating contacts" which takes about two
minutes to complete but then at the end it says "0 out of 763 contacts
imported." I've searched user groups, forums, and microsoft's website
but can't seem to find out what the issue is. I've done this before
on another machine so I know it can work, but for some reason on this
computer it's not happening.

It might be helpful to note that we also just switched to these
computers from something much older, so maybe it's possible that there
was an issue in the original set up of Outlook Express? Any help
would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Judah

Have you opened OE on this PC to veriphy that the addresses are available?
BTW in OE you export msgs to Outlook, in order to retain date settings

Thanks, DL. Yeah, OE recognizes the contacts without a problem. The
computer has been setup for about a week and has been running fine for
the most part. It's just strange because there are 763 contacts in
the address book, and when it's "importing" it is recognizing 763
contacts, but at the end it just can't seem to access them. Is it
possible there's a setting on the file holding the contacts that is
unreadable by Outlook?

Dont use OE myself, but as I understand it the addresses are held in the wab
file (Windows address book)

If OE sees adresses and OL shows its trying to import 763 then OL is seeing
the wab and accessing it.

Tried in OE exporting addresses to a csv file, then in OL importing that?
