Outlook resends faxes already been sent

Emma

This has happened a few times, but not all the time. After I have
successfully sent out fax(es) using outlook, Outlook restarted sending
these faxes again during the following few days, although no more than
once a day. The outbox was empty before it attempted to send.

I'm using Outlook 2000 and windows 2000, if this matters.

Thank you for your advice.

What software or fax service are you using to send faxes?

I use the fax that came with Outlook - Symantec Fax Starter Edition. I
had another episode of Outlook starting old faxed since I wrote my
first email. This time, it looked like it restarted the faxes that
died prematurely. These faxes were the ones I tried without success
earlier, Outlook never got to the point of dialing the number.)

I thought nobody would answer my question, that's why it takes me a
while to answer your question.

Only someone who walked the earth with the dinosaurs would know this one.
You are using a dinosaur, by the way, which has been extinct for quite some
time.

Like everything else, WinFax SE's automatic resend function doesn't work.
Here's a
workaround I discovered (and only barely remembered):

From the Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office/Data/Outlog directory Delete
each *.rec file

After that, set the number of retries in WinFax SE to 0 to prevent this from
recurring.

Great! I will try this the next time I have this problem.

I'm surprised to learn that my outlook fax is acient - I thought this
is what everybody else uses and this is what this forum is for. Is
there another version of fax that comes with Outlook? Where do I find
it?

Winfax SE was discontinued after Outlook 2000. The Windows 2000/XP fax is
what most people use now.

Thank you again for your answer.

I think you are refering to the fax program that's part of win2k,
right? It doesn't have an Outlook interface. And it seems that ,iI
want to have one, my Outlook must run under "corporate/workgroup" mode.
This is not suitable for my home computer.

Please correct me if I were wrong.
