outLook registry key

does any one have link to documentation on
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles"?

your time will be very much appreciated.

Furthermore if for example, I have exported
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Outlook1". if
somehow the outLook1 profile went corrupt, would I be able to recovery
quickly by
deleting outlook1 key
importing the previously export Outlook1 reg file?

The excellent white paper "Configuring Outlook Profiles by Using a PRF File" at http://office.microsoft.com/search/redir.aspx?assetid=HA011403051033&QueryID=pHm7c_60I&respos=3 explains the structure of the profile values, but most are not documented in detail anywhere except indirectly in Extended MAPI programming specs. My most recent book has some additional information, especially on Exchange settings.

You are correct that importing a backup of that key would restore the profile (as would restoring a backup of the full registry).

it is not recommended to use the key to save profiles, you can easily end up
with corruption, especially if you use it on a different computer. It's
better on the same computer, as long as you also delete all files from the
user directory that are associated with the profile (autocomplete's *.nk2
etc)

There is some documentation on specific values found under the profile key
at slipstick.com, outlook-tips.net and outlookcode.com
