Outlook redirect partially working

I am trying to setup the ability to forward messages automatically to an
external e-mail account so that I can receive messages when I am traveling on
my mobile device.

If I use the feature to redirect messages using the out of office feature in
outlook, I am able to receive all my messages without a problem on my mobile
device and they show up as originating from the original sender which is what
I would like.

When I try to setup the rule to to function without using the Out of Office
feature, i.e. redirect all my messages to my mobile device so that I can
receive them when I am away from my desk, I can't get the redirect rule to
completely work. It will redirect messages to my Gmail account or Yahoo
account as long as they originate from inside my company, but it will not
redirect messages originating from outside my company e-mail. I can setup a
rule to just Forward the messages, but I don't like receiving a series of
messages forwarded since I cannot immediately see who they came from.

How do I setup Outlook to redirect all messages all the time an not just the
internal e-mails? I hope this is not an Exchange admin change as I will not
be able to request any changes there.

So you can forward mail but not redirect? That's odd, because the exchange
option to block forwarded mail blocks both forwarded and redirected.

Do you know what version of exchange you use? What type of mobile device?

Unfortunately, out of office is an exchange function, and responding to
emails coming from outside the company is something you have to set on the
exchange server. The default setting is not to, because you don't want to
respond blindly to spam, that verifys the address and results in more spam.
I assume you are not set up so the mobile device can get mail directly from
the exchange server? That is a common setup for businesses these days...

Outlook has a Rule in Rules Wizard for Redirect. It works like Forward, but
retains the original sender info. It doesn't send OOF - it only forwards.

I am using an Iphone with OS3.0 and I am not sure of the exchance server
version and they only permit direct access with exchange via mobile devices
for VP's or equivalent. It sounds like this is an Exchange Server setting.
I just find it weird that my out of office auto forward (which works just
like redirect if you choose the correct settings) works, but I can't setup a
custom rule.

Anyone else have a work around other than just forwarding? Forwarding sucks
because I just get messages from my address and cannot quickly see who it is
from and if it is important.

iphone will work exchange activesync, if you have exchange 2003 or 2007 and
if the admin allows it. You could also log into OWA but it's bad on the
little screens.

OOF has its own settings separate from Forward. The redirect rule uses the
Forward settings, so it *should* work. I don’t think redirect can be
disabled using group policy without affecting forward, but if there is a
policy in effect it may be possible.
