Outlook .pst backup addin

Jim Brown

Hi,

I downloaded an addin from MS for Outlook 2002 to backup
my .pst files (MS Outlook Personal Folders Backup,
version 1.10.0.0). It works fine, for the installer, but
the "Backup..." menu item under "File" appears only for
the user which installed the addin. For other users
the "Backup..." menu item is no where to be found. I've
tried adding the item for other users using "Tools"
& "Customize" but have no clue what to execute.

I'm stuck. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jim

That is strange. But you could also log on as the other
user and download then install the add-in again.

I tried your suggestion also.

User1 installs the software and has access to the backup
util. User2 does not. User2 tries to install the
software but can't because it is already installed.
User2 removes the software and then reintalls it. You
guessed it, now User2 has access to the backup process
and User1 doesn't.

Also I would like to keep the PCs with only one Admin
account so that the admin controls what goes on on the
computer. My users are not very computer savvy (ex.
don't know the network cable must be plugged in to get to
the network).

Thanks for the tip. Any other ideas?

create a batch file that copies the pst and loads outlook - replace the
shortcuts the users normally use with one pointing to the batch file.
