Outlook prevents system from entering standby

I'm running windows 2000 with service pack 4. Whenever
outlook 2000 (from office premium suite) is open, it
prevents my system from entering standby mode
automatically. I can still force standby from the shutdown
dialog box. Is there any way to fix this behavior?
