Is it essential to have Outlook Express running?, I have reinstalled XP, It
never worked properly before OE that is ..
I also have a problem with my pc when it starts, I always close down, then
switch the main plug off. when I switch on again it restarts from the power
switch! :( seems I'm cooking with gas again.
Thanks

I uderstood it to be part of the system, sorry ! its an age thing.

It is, but it's something that doesn't HAVE to be running, just like
internet Explorer doesn't HAVE to be running.......

Explain please ?

Regarding your startup problem:

There is an option in the computer bios (usually under power options) that
allows the computer to automatically restart after a power failure. By
turning off the power at the power block, after a normal shutdown, you are
in fact, creating a power failure.

This can be turned off in the bios.

Look to your computer manual to find out how to access the bios. If you are
uncomfortable doing this (no shame in that as you "can" totally disable a
computer by changing a sensitive setting) take the computer to a competent
technician.

I have an idea how to access the Bios !
I'll tread carefully, and won't touch anything that looks iffy. If all else
fails I'll for sure take it to the 'TEC MAN'

As we say a little knowledge sometimes is useful, but we tend to believe we
know it all !

Thanks for your reply, I'll let you know wether I succeed.

I don't know what OE and your power problems have to do with each other, but
I know that OE doesn't have to be running, nor does IE, or Paint, or Word..
It's an optional program. Again, I don't fully understand the problem, but
I hope that helps..
