Outlook Personal Folders Backup does not work in Win 7

If you have Win 7 and you use the Microsoft Personal Folders Backup app in
Outlook 2007 you may get a message saying something like Cannot find outlook
backup.pst. The problem is that Win 7 places these files in a different
location than in Win XP or earlier versions.
The problem is fixed by opening the backup utility (file\backup...) then
clicking the Options Button. Click the Browse... button and point it to the
following location:
C:\Users\Your Logon Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook Backup.pst.

("Your Logon name" is a placeholder for your logon name or the actual User
of the computer)

Click OK. You should then be able to do a backup

No, that is not a malfunction of the backup tool but simply you not having
specified a new valid backup location for your pst-file.
The backup location that you set via the Personal Folders Backup add-in is
stored in the pst-file itself. When you restore the pst-file onto another
machine, you will of course have to specify a new backup location which is
valid within the new environment.
For further details, also see;

That said; You really should specify another backup location than you have
right now. If something happens to your disk itself, both your original and
the backup would be lost. For more information about properly backing up and
restoring your Outlook data see;

You can try a tool called Advanced Outlook Repair. You can download a free demo version at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/aor.exe . I think it is a useful repair tool for you. It is easy to recover your PST file by using its wizard. It is a powerful tool to recover messages, folders and other objects from corrupt or damaged Microsoft Outlook PST files.

Detailed information about Advanced Outlook Repair can be found at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/

I have a different problem related to the outlook backup tool, which I'm
using on Outlook 2003, Windows XP Home SP3.

I have no problems conducting a backup of my outlook.pst and archive.pst
files when I manually choose to do it from the file menu and then close
Outlook. The problems happens when a scheduled backup (in my case, daily)
takes place. The automated scheduled backup only backs up the archive.pst
file, not outlook.pst which is really the important one. I have looked
through this website and sometimes the problems seem to stem from Outlook not
closing properly, but I've checked and my software shuts down correctly. I
have tried disabling the add-ins (Skylook, Outlook Connector,) to no avail. I
only have one Outlook profile running on this software. An expert opinion
will be greatly appreciated.
