Outlook password

Hi,

How do i set password for MS Outlook, so that the moment i click outlook
icon it should ask for a password, before loading the page.

There is a option available in tools/E Mail accounts/change existing
settings/More settings/prompt for user name and password.....but this
password is required only in case i want to connect to the net and check my
new mail...otherwise by clicking cancel and without giving password...i could
access my off line messages..I dont want this option...

The moment i click outlook icon , it should ask for password even before
loading the page so that the user could see even his offline messages only
after giving password

Thanks

Saran

In what email environment are you working? (IE is this POP, IMAP, or
Exchange?)

saran,
If you already added a password to your Personal Folder Settings, try the
following.
1. In Outlook> Right click the Personal Folders "folder"> Properties>
General tab> Advance button> Change Password> Put your current password for
the file in the Old Password, New Password, and finally Confirm New Password
box> Do not check the box to add Password to Password List> Reboot Outlook.
2. When you get the prompt for password> Fill in Password> Don't check the
box to add Password to Password List, and don't check add to list box
everytime you sign on.
3. Also, under Control Panel> Mail> Show Profiles button> Select to "Prompt
for Profile". This will just add another layer of Prompts before Outlook
will open, not a real security feature.

If you are in an Exchange environment the security of the mailbox is linked
to the Workstation User log-in. What exactly are you trying to achieve here?
