I have a user in my organization that has a peculiar problem. In the morning
when they open Outlook, everything works fine. If they happen to close
Outlook at some point during the day and then try to re-open it, nothing
happens. As users tend to do, he then tries to launch Outlook again. And
again. And again. When he finally gets frustrated and calls me, I
immediately notice that the Outlook icon is showing in the task bar, by the
clock, which I believe means that Outlook is currently open. When I attempt
to launch Outlook by clicking on this, I get a notice saying that Outlook is
not responding. I then open the task manager and see about 4 or 5
outlook.exe processes running. I do an "end task" on each one and then
Outlook opens as normal. This particular user is getting tired of dealing
with this and I have thus far been unable to find a solution. Can anyone
help?
Oh yeah, this is Outlook 2003 running on Windows XP. This machine has an
Ipaq 2215 installed syncing with Outlook. We are also running Symantec
AntiVirus Corporate Edition 9 and Outlook and SMPT mail scanning is enabled.
I have a suspicion that one of those apps are causing the problem, but I am
running the same things on my PC and I’ve never experienced this issue.
Thanks in advance for the help.
