Outlook News

Could you teach me how to make it so that an icon in my quicklaunch toolbar
launches Outlook News? I can't figure out where to put /newsonly. This will,
at least for now, solve all my problems.

Thanks. :)

Sure.
Create a new shortcut.
In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK (include the
quotes):
"drive:\program files\outlook express\msimn.exe" /option
Drag the Shortcut to your quicklaunch bar.

Dear Mr. Valentine,
My shortcut currently looks like this:

"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /newsonly

I tried this on a new shortcut and it didn't work. I also tried:

"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" -newsonly

I don't have an email account associated with OE, just news account. Does
that make a difference? I don't think so but better to cover all my bases.

Both instances run Outlook Express and not Outlook News.

Regards,
J.R.

As I've told you several times before, there is no such thing as "Outlook
News." Outlook uses Outlook Express in news only mode to read news and
always has. You should be getting Outlook Express with only news (not email)
enabled.

you're close with this one:
"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /newsonly

if you want the title bar to say outlook newsreader, use:
"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /outnews

Same program, same functionality, different titlebar.
