Outlook Mis-Aligns Number Formats when Printing

Hello, all. I have a client with a problem:

When list items formatted as numbers are printed, the spacing moves. For
Example:

1. hello --->becomes---> 1.hel lo
2. good-bye--->becomes---> 2.goo d-bye

Any suggestions on how to fix this? The e-mails look fine on the screen;
it's only when printed to things go awry.

The client is using Outlook 2002 with SP3, Win XP SP2. Word is enabled as
the e-mail editor, and the formatting is being done via the Numbering button
on the Formatting toolbar.

I know it's an older version of the software, but any help would be
appreciated.

More information:

This doesn't seem to be an issue when printing a "draft" e-mail. It also
doesn't seem to be an issue if numbers are formatted "1)" instead of "1." I
was beginning to think it might actually be the printer driver, but if it
was, wouldn't the formatting be consistently mis-aligned?
