Outlook messaging interface error

I just encountered the problem where I can not make changes/additions
to the contact/calendar files. "The meesaging interface has returned an
unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook". I know this
has been addressed but the replies are too old to access. There is a
solution but can't find it. I'm running Windows XP. HELP!!!!

Innumerable causes for this error. Use standard troubleshooting techniques
which include repairing the data file and creating a new profile.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, I am not of a strong
technical nature and have no idea to do what you've asked. I have seen
mention of a hotfix - might you know where I could get that?

Hotfixes are only for very specific problems that meet strict criteria. This
is a completely non-specific error that has innumerable causes. So there is
not appropriate hotfix. If you have any idea what steps lead to this error,
that would give us a clue. Even just specifying your Outlook version might
help narrow it down. Search the Knowledge Base until you find one that
matches your circumstances, like this one for example:
