Outlook looking for POP3 server

I have a strange problem. I have recently installed an Exchange server on the network and reconfigured the Outlook clients to connect to the Exchange server for mail and deleted the POP3 acct that was previously used. Even though the POP3 email acct was deleted in the users profile it is still periodicaly trying to connect to the old POP3 mailbox and prompts for the username and password. Is there any reason that Outlook would be trying to still connect to the old server for mail? how do I stop it from doing that?

Thanks in advance
Chad
