I have just installed MS Office 2007.

I have activated Outlook but but there does not seem to be a Login or Logout
facility. Have I missed something?

Outlook doesn't HAVE a "login" or "logout" function. Please explain
PRECISELY what you are trying to do or mean.

Thank you for replying.

Outlook Express has a Logon window/dialog box for email address and
password. Can Outlook have the same?

Only if you tell it not to remember the password......If you tell outlook
not to remember the password when you set up an account you get something
similar.
But why would you want to do that?

Outlook is really more suited to having a mail server on a LAN, also it
saves email in a totally different format compared with Outlook Express,
although the Usenet News reader component is similar.
I can't answer the login question as I don't currently have Outlook
installed but I'm sure that there is a provision for user accounts, if
that's what you mean.

You need to set up an account or accounts with login and password.

Outlook does not have, niether has it ever had a newsreader component.
Its actually more of a PIM, and does not require an exchange setup

If outlook has a newreader Btn on its tool bar it actually starts the
outlook express newreader, which in any case you can start from a shortcut.
ie "%ProgramFiles%\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /outnews

First off, this question really belongs in an Outlook or Office
newsgroup. If you haven't done so already, you might want to
post your question to one of those newsgroups. Try to include a
little more detail as to what you're trying to accomplish. Your
question is a little vague.

That said, I'm guessing you're looking to password protect your
Outlook files. Take a look at this article for more info.

Help to protect your Outlook information by using a password

Keep in mind that Outlook's help files and Microsoft's Office
support site can provide answers to a number of the questions
you may have.

Good luck

Yea. You've missed that you've asked in the wrong group. You need to
ask in one with OUTLOOK in the title. You need to notice this group
title LACKS that word.

Ask elsewhere
