Outlook locks up

I'm running Win 98SE & Office 2K. Yesterday, everything was working well.
Today, when I click on Outlook I get the Welcome splash screen and my
computer locks up. I have to do a cold boot with the power switch
(ctrl+alt+del won't work).
I have all patches and updates for the OS and Office installed. I am
running Norton Anti-Virus as well as Ad-Aware/Spy-bot. There does not appear
to be any infection in my system. I have completely removed Office and
re-installed it as well as the recent updates/patches. Still the problem
persists. Outlook Express works fine. Any suggestions?

If what Peter suggested doesn't work, try this:

You may have a corrupted outcmd.dat file. This is the file that stores your
toolbar customizations, and when it becomes corrupted, Outlook can't use it
at startup to build your toolbars, thus causing the hangups. Try renaming or
deleting your outcmd.dat file while Outlook is closed. Renaming it might be
the best idea if you have a lot of customizations that you'd prefer not to
lose; that way if renaming the file doesn't solve your problem, you may be
able to restore it later when you do get Outlook working properly again.

That fixed the problem. I found the file outcmd.dat, renamed it, opened
outlook, and created a new outcmd.dat file. Everything else fell into place.
Thank you for your help.
