Outlook Keeps Wanting To Be Configured After I Removed Trial

G

Guest

I use Microsoft Office 2003 Basic edition on my Vista Home Edition machine.

I had tried out Office 2007 Standard edition a while back and since I never
upgraded I removed the trial version off my hard drive using the normal
procedure.

After I did that each time I open Outlook 2003 I get the follow message:

Quote:

please wait while windows configures microsoft office basic edition 2003

I also got the error:

Quote:

user/appdata/roaming/microsoft/addins/outlvba.dll not valid

- So I tried to repair Office from the installation disk, that didn't work.

- Then I tried removing Office 2003 and then reinstalling it, that didn't
work.

- I tried updating Office 2003 to the latest service pack 3, but that didn't
work.

- Then I tried putting Office 2007 trial version back on my machine along
with Office 2003, that didn't work.

Then I noticed that Windows installer was always running - msiexec.exe.

So I opened Event Viewer and noticed I have almost two hundred 1001 and 1004
warnings.

This is what one of the warning reads:

Anyone have any idea how to get rid of this looping of the Windows Installer
each time I open Outlook 2003?

One other piece of info is the 2003 software was from an OEM that came with
my computer.

Milly. I just tried creating a new profile as you suggested (following the
help instructions and rebooted) and I am still getting the installer message
when starting Outlook. It just seems like Outlook will not install correctly
no matter what I try.

Anything else I can try short of re-formating my hard drive and starting
from scratch?

Have you let the installer run to completion? How about logging on as admin and completing the installation?

Milly,

Yes I did all the installation tries logged in as an Administrator.

Yes I have let the installation fully run many times without success.

Any other ideas?
