Hi to all

I am using Outlook 2000 on my Windows 2000 Pro and all I
know the mail server is Exchange Server 5.5.

Recently I have a problem with my Outlook and the message
that keeps popping up. The pop-up message reads:
This item could not be saved (please note - I never ask it
to save it - this message pops up without any request from
me to do anything) because it has been changed by another
user or in another window. Do you want to make a copy in
the default folder for this item? Then there are the two
yes no buttons.

This can happen if I am in a fresh "new page" or if I am
responding to an e-mail sent to me. To date, if I hit the
no button, nothing happens or if I hit the yes button it
will save it to the folder I am working out of. It has
happened infrequently in the past, goes away for a while
and then comes back. The last couple of days it has been
fairly consistent.

So I would like to know is there solution to fix this
problem ?

Please kindly advise and thanks in advance.

Are you trying to read messages in a public folder
or just your inbox messages that you receive?

What is the version number on your Outlook?

I have seen this behavior happen using "contact" type
items. If you were to say yes, my guess is that it would
save to your Contacts folder. Try the following:

You may want to try clearing the forms cache.

If you close outlook
Perform a FIND (click on desktop and press <F3>)
(If you are using XP or W2K operating system be
sure to look in hidden files)
Look for FRMCACHE.DAT file.
Delete it from the find window.
Restart Outlook.

When you restart Outlook it will rebuild a fresh new
FRMCACHE.DAT file.

Outlook uses forms for everything. Sometimes these
get corrupt and need to be rebuilt.
