After installing this recent Outlook update for 2007 or 2003, emails with
pdf attachments are getting corrupted. Not only is the attachment stripped
but the email ends up totally blank. No From no subject no body.

The email file on the server is fine and can be read with a different reader
without trouble.

KB936643 is for Outlook 2003

This has occurred on all of our workstations.

Anyone else seen this problem?

Have you verified that uninstalling the update solves your issue?
Do you have a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook? Disable this
integration and try again.

Yes, uninstalling the update resolves the issue.

Disabling the antivirus email protection was the first thing I tried but it
had no effect. Some workstations have Norton and others have McAfee.

I don't fully understand this but after disabling the antivirus software on
our remote mail server I can now receive pdf attachments with the updates
installed on the workstations.

Looks like I have more digging to do.
