outlook is trying to send messages that aren't there

When I hit send/receive button and there are no messages in my outbox, the
processing message from outlook is sending 1 of 2 messages. How can outlook
be trying to send messages that aren't there, and how do I make this stop?

I think you are correct in that these are stuck read receipts, however, when
I go through the process, I get a message stating the
IpMDB->AbortSubmit():MAPI_E_UNABLE_TO_ABORT

So any ideas now? Thanks in advance!
