Outlook Insert File: display files that start with letters typed

In Outlook, when inserting a file, is there a way that you can type in the
'File Name:' box the first letters of the file name and it will then only
display files/folders with names starting with the letters you have typed?

A friend who uses AOL tells me that when they insert a file they can start
typing in the 'File Name:' box and it will only show the files/folders that
match the first letters in the viewing pane above. This makes it much easier
so that you don't have to scroll through all your files. Thanks for your
response, I hope there may be a work around???

Type in the File Name box and you'll get a dropdown list of the possible
file names starting with those letters.

I wasn't able to get the dropdown list working, but I got it so it tries to
autocomplete in the name box (to the first alphabetical thing that matches
the letters I've typed). Also, it will jump to actually showing the portion
of the list with the first letter of what I type if a click in the viewing
pane and type a single letter (adding letters just jumps to that region of
the alphabet). Tips on how to get the dropdown box would be great. This has
helped, though I wish Microsoft would give the user more options.

The list shows automatically under the box where you type the file name.
There is nothing to configure here in Outlook since it is a default Windows
feature. Running Windows Vista here.
