Outlook icon in the system tray

After closing Outlook 2003 the icon in the system tray is still there. Stays
there until I reboot. How do I get the Outlook icon in the system tray to
exit after I exit the Outlook 2003 program?

are you closing it or minimizing it to the tray? if closing, make sure all
apps that access outlook data are closed - remove PDAs from the cradle too.
if you use a search utility (lookout, msn search etc) it may still be
searching.

If you get http://www.sunflowerhead.com/software/knockout you can see if
it's closing and force it closed from the tray.

I am closing the program (File/Exit). I do have the LookOut add-in and MSN
Toolbar. I also use an integrated RSS Reader for Outlook (intraVnew). I will
check out the sunflowerhead.com software that you mentioned. Thank you.

is the msn search installed with the msn toolbar? I had severe problems
using the MSN search so it would be the first thing I would check. It could
any of those apps though, since each uses Outlook data.

Make sure you wait a minute or so for it to close - Newsgator keeps it open
a few seconds longer if it's pulling RSS feeds when I close it and intravnew
may do the same.

You're right on point - good job! I learned through trial and error that
IntraVnews was the culprit. It was even addressed in a later release of that
program. But thanks anyway. This is a great community.
