Outlook hanging

I just started having a problem with Outlook hanging when it tries to
download email from my POP3 server at SBC.

Outlook boots just fine, but when it attempts to download new email, it just
sits there doing nothing. If I run task manager it says the application is
not responding (no kidding!)

I've tried re-installing Office from scratch but no luck. I also know that
my SBC account is working fine because I can access the account via their web
client and check messages.

Any thoughts on how fix this problem would be sincerely appreciated.

One thing you can do is enable logging and attempt the receive again. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=300479 . Post the contents of the log and
perhaps someone will see something that indicates the problem.

Another thing you can try is to mimic the POP client to see if the protocols
between your machine and the server are working. See
