Outlook GROUP BY... how to, in Windows mail

Kevin M Carman

I have read the semi relevant threads, so bear with me as NONE of them
address the question asked.

In Outlook2000 and others threr was a way to group messages by anything you
wanted, i.e. if you have 13 email accounts a Group by [Account] would put all
mail sent to one account in a group then if I wanted I sorted by received time

it would show in the window as

+ Account: XYZPDQ (25 Messages, 3 Unread)
- Messages here
+ Account ABC Gum (4 Messages, 4 Unread)
- Nessages here

I want to have the same setup in windows mail and NO I am not going to
create 13 rules and 13 folders to sort into folders as it is stupid if
windows mail was supposed to be better than outlook, and/or outlook express
then this feature should be here as well. I can easily add MS Office 2000
back on my new computer w/ Vista HP but I like windows mail so how is this
accomplished.

SIDE NOTE -- I tried to import all my old archived messages (archive.pst and
outlook.pst) into WinMail but got an error that said something about MAPI but
gave no help or specifics. Help on this would be appreciated as well

I don't use Hotmail anymore so post to this group and/or to kmcarman at
mainenotarynet.com

Thank You

Importing .pst files into Windows Mail requires having Outlook (also known
as the MAPI client) installed. You have two choices: 1. Install Outlook
(not Outlook Express). A free trial version will run long enough to import
the files. 2. Import the messages into Outlook Express on a computer
running XP, then import them into Windows Mail from Outlook Express.
