Outlook (full and express) removing mail from ISP server...

Guest

Even though I have the "Leave a copy of the messages on the server" checked
in the "Advanced" tab of the "Internet E-mail Settings" window.
In fact, the ONLY time that the e-mail stays on the ISP server is when our
home desktop is either powered down or is in stand-by mode.

Computer manufacturer claims it's not an O/S issue (XPHome) and ISP
(Comcast) says it's not thier issue.

HELP!

I used the "File and Settings Transfer Wizard" to move the e-mail settings
for the 3 users from the old PC to the new PC. This set up the Outlook
Express settings before we purchased Office Pro 2003 and "upgraded" from
Express to the full client.

try changing the setting, applying the changed setting then reapplying leave
on server.

see if it works for one first - but probably yes. also - if you have we b
access to the accounts, verify they are left on the server.

If you have 3 users sharing one windows logon that could be the cause. They
should all have different windows logons and different pst files.

Yes, 3 separate windows logons.
Sorry for the ignorance, but "PST" file?
I'm off to check...

Thanks so much for the info so far!

pst = personal folders. It's where outlook keeps the downloaded messages.
Some people share them with other users so they can have a shared calendar.

Each of the users have "outlook.pst" files in their respective
documents and settings\(user)\local settings\application
data\microsoft\outlook
directory

by changing the "leave on server", apply, reset, apply...
didn't solve the issue.
the e-mails were still removed from the ISP server once the PC was started...

Try creating a new mail profile (Control Panel's Mail applet>Show
Profiles>Add) for one of the usersa and see if that changes things. Use the
Data Files button to tell Outlook to use the existing PST instead of
creating a new one.

So by using the existing PST file, there won't be any e-mail loss...
Thanks, I'll give it a shot later.
