Outlook freezes when sending email with attachment

Outlook 2000. When creating a new email and attaching a document (excel file)
and then clicking on send outlook 2000 crashes and comes up not responding.
Eventual error is "network problems are preventing connection to the
microsoft exchange server computer". Also occational message to say registry
file are bad and hence re-install office.

I have re-installed office 2000 completely 3 times now with the service
packs. No other users effected. General opening of outlook ok just when
sending an email with attachment causes the fault. Please help.

Make sure you have disabled any email scanning and that your server timeout
value is sufficiently large.
