Outlook freeze

When using Outlook calendar in Windows XP professional, almost any action
with appointments causes the program to freeze (timeout indicator) until
closed with control-Alt-Del. This problem has gotten worse and worse with
time, currently it is almost unusable.

Symtoms: There are 3 lines of PDFs in the menu section. I don't know where
these came from, or how to get rid of them. I have cleared the deleted bin,
it helped, but not solved.

Any help is welcome and much appreciated!

Might be better to post in the Oultook group.

Nevertheless, a common cause of problems is an oversized .pst file. This
is
particulalry true on pre-2003 versions where the .pst is limited to 2GB.
It
soon reaches this size because unlike OE's .dbx files, one file contains
literally everything.

I discovered with a couple of clients that in addition to the file being
oversized, the account was set to leave everything on the server for ever,
and this compounded the problem - a new PST file would be promptly
over-inflated and re-broken.

To get around this, I had to go to the server and delete the thousands of
messages stored there.
