Outlook formatting is BAD

I just spend about 20 minutes formatting a message in Outlook. I sent it and
went to go view it in a HTML/non-outlook email viewer. The new lines didn't
show up like normal. In outlook, there are lots of breaks (like I wanted)
seperating the paragraphs. In the other email viewers, guess what? It
inserted only one break between paragraphs, which smashes all the words into
one big mess.

This is very poor for a product of this caliber. When I create a message in
outlook, I should HAVE to use outlook just to get it to look normal. That's
the whole point of using HTML, right??

Also, when I copy text from a message in outlook and paste into notepad,
outlook inserts double the line breaks than the message shows. Not very nice.

Are line breaks really that tough to deal with? You gues can write an
algorithm to interpret speech, yet you can't parse line breaks? WTF?

What email client do the others use? I've never seen this in the clients I
tested it in - complaints double spacing is the usual problem. See
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/dblspace_html.htm

Did you press enter once or twice at the end of each paragraph? Outlook
uses a style that adds white space so it looks like you hit enter twice but
on some clients this would not add the extra white space between paras that
we are used to seeing in email. To fix, change the normal style to not
include space after. (format text tab).

Unless you insert <BR> HTML tags in your HTML-formatted e-mails, HTML
will condense multiple whitespace characters into 1 whitespace
character. That is how HTML works.

As I recall, in Outlook, you have to use Shift+Enter to insert a <BR>
tag.

You can NEVER guarantee that your HTML formatting will look the same to
the recipient. It depends on what client the recipient uses and how it
is configured.

Oh, my mistake. I thought you wanted help. A suggestion is not a
question.
