I got the Newsgroup reading extension of outlook to open
once when I initially added the "News" button to the "Go"
Menu list on the standar toolbar. The next time I opened
outlook, the button is gone and is no longer in the
command list of buttons where I had initially retrieved
it. This renders the extension useless and the only
suggestions that the Help documentation provides is to
take the original steps that I took to get the button
there in the first place. BUT as I said before the "News"
button no longer even appears in that command list. This
is a shameful and ridiculously unsupported BUG!!!!!

The solution has been posted here daily for years. Read before you post:
To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

i have the same problem. if you find the answer please
post it.

thanks

I am having the same problem with the NEWS command disappearing on me! I
also tried the advice from the other fellow "Russ Valentine" needless to say
did not work for me. I have Outlook Express as my default newsreader already
and I always check no on the default box. Any more suggestions out there?
Help!

This is the only one that works.
Examine your settings in OE and make sure it is not set as the default
within the application.
Are we to assume you are using Outlook 2003?
