Outlook File Transfer Difficulty

Hi All:

I have tried to unsuccessfully to transfer (export) my
Outlook Express file folders (e.g John Smith's file of e-
mails) as message files from one computer with Outlook
Express 4.0 by e-mail to my new address that has Outlook
Express 6.0. Error message says I have a MAPI error. I
have since transfered my files from my old computer(which
doesn't have a burner to a frame that does) to CD's. I
cannot now import these files as it says files are
running...which they aren't.
How do I import these files into place on my Outlook
Express folder area. ( I cannot find the location on my C
drive) Funny thing is that I can see it on my old
computer's Outlook Express location on the C drive.

Thanks in advance!

Tools>Options>Maintenance>Store folder will reveal the location of your
current (OE6) Identity's store.

Import OE4 Messages:
1. Create a new temporary folder on your Desktop and name it Mail
[important!].

2. Copy the OE4 files (*.idx and *.mbx) from CD into the Mail folder and
remove the Read Only attribute they will have by default
(right-click>Properties).

3. Open OE and click File | Import | Messages; select OE4 from the list,
then point the wizard to the Desktop, not the folder named Mail. Choose
'From Store root directory'. You will then have the option to import all
mail folders or only those you select.

Import Address Book:
1. Copy the .wab file from CD to Desktop and remove the Read Only attribute.

2. Open Address Book: File | Import | Address Book (WAB) | ...

I ask again: why do people insist on referring to OE as "Outlook" in
the header titles? The only thing the two programs really share in
common is the word "Outlook" in the name.

Take the question to an OE newsgroup. This one is for the XP OS.
Thanks for dropping by, exit to the left.
