How can I return my incoming mail to date order rather
than alphabet that I have somehow managed to do. Thank
you.

click on the header at the top "Received"

For a newbie: In the right pane where the messages are listed, above the
messages, you'll see data field headers (for mail, they'll be From, Subject,
Sent etc.. Click the header for the field that you want the messages sorted
by. If you click once, the sort will be in ascending order, if you click
twice the order will be reversed to descending order.
